2025 Krewe of Titans Parade – “Be My Valentine”
On February 14, 2025, the Krewe of Titans rolled through the streets of Slidell for their 14th annual Mardi Gras celebration. Embracing the romantic theme “Be My Valentine,” the parade featured 26 elaborately designed floats and over 550 riders. Highlights included themed tandems like Sweethearts at Sea, The Love Boat, Let’s Taco ‘bout Love, and multi-part signature floats such as Titans of Love and Aloha Mi Amor. The krewe debuted a new LED title float and delighted crowds with festive throws—Valentine bears, lighted fleur-de-lis wands, heart sunglasses, koozies, flip flops, and more. Grand marshals included WGNO personalities LBJ, Amy Russo, and Carrigan Chauvin. The celebration kicked off weeks earlier with a krewe ball on January 25 at The Harbor Center. Since becoming co-ed in 2016, Titans has continued to grow as a staple of the Northshore Mardi Gras tradition.
2024 Krewe of Titans Parade – “Titans Has Class”
The 2024 Krewe of Titans parade launched the Carnival season in Slidell with flair and imagination under the theme “Titans Has Class.” Held on Friday, January 26, the parade featured more than 550 riders aboard 25 floats, with titles inspired by education and culture—including Astrology, Children’s Literature, and Auto Shop. The floats were crafted by Mardi Gras Decorators and included a special Crazy Train float for junior Titans.
Reigning over the festivities were St. Tammany Parish Public School employees Mark Hughey and T.K. Collins, selected by blind draw at the krewe’s summer coronation. Costumes were designed by Paula Senette, adding to the parade’s visual spectacle. The grand marshal was Slidell Police Sgt. Jake Morris, well-known for his appearances on A&E’s Live PD as the handler of the late canine officer, Kano. Superintendent of Schools Frank Jabbia also made a special appearance.
Crowds enjoyed a wide variety of throws, including 64-ounce cups, fanny packs, beach balls, slim can koozies, and fleur-de-lis cutouts in Mardi Gras colors. Doubloons also made a return in 2024. The krewe’s annual ball was held in early December at The Harbor Center, kicking off the season with celebration and tradition.
2023 Krewe of Titans Parade – “It Takes Two”
The Krewe of Titans kicked off the 2023 Carnival season in Slidell with a lively Friday night parade on February 3, embracing the theme “It Takes Two.” The 24-float procession celebrated iconic duos with creative concepts such as Lady and the Tramp, Crawfish and Beer, and Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. Signature floats included the popular tandem Train Float and a heartfelt St. Jude Float honoring the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The 2023 royalty included King Titan XII Greg Dicke and Queen Titan XII Laura Kaufmann, with WVUE anchor Lauren McCoy serving as Grand Marshal. More than 550 men and women paraded through Slidell, throwing LED tumblers, logo-etched wands, crawfish trays, and other crowd favorites. Floats were designed by Mardi Gras Decorators, with costumes by Wingate Jones/Southern Costume Company. The parade featured over 50 units in total and marked a festive return to tradition. The krewe’s annual ball was held January 14, 2023, at The Harbor Center.
2022 Krewe of Titans Parade – “It’s Carnival Time”
On Saturday, February 19, 2022, the Krewe of Titans rolled through the streets of Slidell with a 16-float procession themed “It’s Carnival Time.” The floats celebrated the spirit of Mardi Gras with representations of iconic krewes past and present, such as Amor, Pegasus, and Zeus. Built by PFJ Floats, the parade featured six of the largest superfloats ever seen on the Northshore, delivering a powerful visual spectacle.
King Doug Drennan and Queen Jennifer Drennan reigned over the festivities, with 375 riders throwing new, light-up medallion beads and other crowd favorites. The parade featured over 40 units, including 12 marching bands—three of which were from the city of Slidell. The Krewe’s annual ball was held a month prior, on January 15, 2022, at the Slidell Auditorium.
2021 Krewe of Titans Did Not Roll Due To Covid-19 Concerns
2020 Krewe of Titans Parade – “A Perfect 10”
On Saturday, February 15, 2020, the Krewe of Titans celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special themed parade titled “A Perfect 10.” The 16-float procession featured past highlights from the krewe’s first decade, including floats inspired by Where Yat Nawlins (2018), Dancing in the Streets (2015), and Titans Celebrate the Holidays (2013). Built by PFJ Float Builders, the parade included six of the largest superfloats ever seen on the Northshore.
Reigning over the milestone event were King Ralph Morel III and Queen Dr. Jennifer Hinrichsen Maraia. Guest marshals included NFL great Deuce McAllister and broadcaster Kristian Garic. The krewe’s 350 members threw custom anniversary footballs, hand-strung medallion beads, LED lighted fleur-de-lis wands, and cloisonné doubloons. The celebration also featured Titan’s Battle of the Bands, awarding $6,000 in prize money. The annual ball took place on January 18, 2020, at the Slidell Auditorium.
2019 Krewe of Titans Parade – “Titans Goes on Vacation”
On Saturday, February 23, 2019, the Krewe of Titans celebrated its ninth year with the lively parade theme “Titans Goes on Vacation.” The 14-float procession, built by PFJ Float Builders, brought a festive, globe-trotting energy to Slidell’s streets with float subjects like Polynesia, Playing the Field, and Percival.
King Legrande Ferguson and Queen Lauren S. Oustalet reigned over the krewe, while WGNO TV Sports Director Ed Daniels served as the guest grand marshal. A total of 385 riders threw personalized umbrellas, Titans backpacks, lighted batons, lighted lanyards, and other glowing throws that lit up the night. The Titans Ball was held earlier in the season on January 26, 2019, at the Slidell Auditorium.
2018 Krewe of Titans Parade – “Where Y’at Nawlins”
On Saturday, February 3, 2018, the Krewe of Titans celebrated its eighth year with a themed parade titled “Where Y’at Nawlins,” honoring the Tricentennial of New Orleans. The 16-float procession, constructed by PFJ Float Builders, featured floats inspired by iconic local landmarks and institutions, including the Saenger Theater, NASA Michoud, and the New Orleans Fairgrounds.
King George Wigginton and Queen Celie Schwankhart Scott reigned as Titans royalty, while the guest grand marshal was 2017 Louisiana Seafood Champion Al Scramuzza, famed for his work with Seafood City in New Orleans. The krewe’s 385 riders distributed themed throws such as personalized umbrellas, Titans backpacks, and lighted lanyards. The evening also featured performances from several New Orleans marching bands. The annual Titans Ball took place on January 13, 2018, at the Slidell Auditorium.
2017 Krewe of Titans Parade – “Rolling Through the ’70s”
The Mystic Krewe of Titans rolled for the seventh time in Slidell on Saturday, February 18, 2017, with a groovy throwback theme: “Rolling Through the ’70s.” The 16-float procession paid tribute to the disco decade with float subjects like KISS, Saturday Night Fever, and Studio 54. The floats were constructed by PFJ Float Builders.
King John-Paul Fugate and Queen Abby Martin reigned as royalty, leading 345 riders through the night parade. Throws included lighted medallions, LED tumblers, multi-colored lanyards, lighted batons, and purple koozies—lighting up the route with energy and color. The krewe’s annual ball was held earlier in the season on January 21, 2017, at the Slidell Auditorium.
2016 Krewe of Titans Parade – “Dancing in the Streets”
On Saturday, January 30, 2016, the Mystic Krewe of Titans paraded through Slidell for the sixth time with the vibrant theme “Dancing in the Streets.” The procession featured 12 floats built by Rizzuto and Company, with float titles including YMCA, Mardi Gras Mambo, and When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.
King Kendall Griffith and Queen Elizabeth Hebert led the festivities, joined by 275 riders who threw lighted polystone medallion beads, t-shirts, LED wristbands, nerf footballs, frisbees, and cups. This parade marked a new chapter for the krewe under new leadership and came just before the club transitioned to a co-ed organization later that year. The annual Titans Ball took place on December 12, 2015, at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium.
2015 Krewe of Titans Parade – “The Titans Horror Story”
The Mystic Krewe of Titans returned for its fifth annual parade on Saturday, February 7, 2015, with a spooky and theatrical theme: “The Titans Horror Story.” The 10-float procession featured titles like Dracula, Skeleton, Cemetery, and Headless Horseman. All floats were built by Rizzuto and Company, bringing a haunting flair to the streets of Slidell.
King Charles M. Klepper and Queen Carey Caye reigned over the festivities. The krewe’s 140 riders threw a variety of themed items including lighted wristbands, polystone and Fleur-de-lis medallion beads, nerf footballs, t-shirts, frisbees, cups, and more. The Mystic Krewe of Titans remained one of Slidell’s newest and fastest-growing night parades, with its annual ball held at the Arcade Theater in Old Towne Slidell.
2014 Krewe of Titans Parade – “The Titans Honor the Kings”
The Mystic Krewe of Titans returned for its fourth annual parade on Saturday, February 22, 2014, with a regal theme: “The Titans Honor the Kings.” The 10-float procession, constructed by Rizzuto and Company, paid tribute to iconic and mythical kings with floats titled King of Rock and Roll, King Cake, Old King Cole, King of the Mardi Gras, and King Tut.
The parade featured 140 riders who threw lighted fleur-de-lis beads, branded t-shirts, and light-up shot glasses to the crowds lining the Slidell streets. Florida resident Alyssa Adkins reigned as Queen, while the King was chosen at the krewe’s annual ball held on January 10, 2014, at the Arcade Theater in Old Towne Slidell.
2013 Krewe of Titans Parade – “Titans Celebrate the Holidays”
On Saturday, February 2, 2013, the Mystic Krewe of Titans rolled through Slidell for its third annual parade with the festive theme “Titans Celebrate the Holidays.” The 11-float procession featured seasonal highlights with titles such as Thanksgiving, Chinese New Year, Cinco de Mayo, and Happy Birthday. Floats were built by Rizzuto and Company.
Queen Shannon Lipps reigned over the event as Titans IV, while the king was selected at the krewe’s ball held earlier on January 5, 2013, at the Arcade Theater in Olde Towne Slidell. The krewe’s 135 riders threw a wide variety of themed items including footballs, t-shirts, lighted scepters, and polystone medallion beads—lighting up the night with celebration and color.
2012 Krewe of Titans Parade – “Games That Titans Play”
The Mystic Krewe of Titans rolled for the second time in Slidell on Saturday, February 11, 2012, with a playful theme: “Games That Titans Play.” The 10-float procession featured classic game-inspired floats including Monopoly, Mr. Potato Head, Chess, and Mouse Trap. The floats were constructed by Rizzuto & Company.
Guest riders for the parade included “The Original Swamp People,” the Klieberts, featured on Discovery Channel’s Swamp People. The krewe’s 125 riders threw logo cups, medallion beads, footballs, t-shirts, and a wide array of lighted novelties such as tambourines, foam batons, and 22″ necklaces. The King and Queen were selected at the krewe’s annual celebration on December 9, 2011, at the Arcade Theater in Olde Towne Slidell.
2011 Krewe of Titans Parade – “The Gods Shine Down on the Titans”
The Mystic Krewe of Titans made its debut on Saturday, February 26, 2011, with its first-ever parade in Slidell. Titled “The Gods Shine Down on the Titans,” the 10-float procession marked the krewe’s inaugural celebration. Floats were constructed by Rizzuto & Company and introduced the Northshore to a new nighttime tradition.
The krewe’s 140 members threw lighted tambourines, lanyards, foam batons, and signature items like footballs, frisbees, cups, t-shirts, and doubloons. Kate-Lyn Elizabeth Champagne was crowned as the krewe’s first queen. The king was chosen during the krewe’s first celebration ball, held on January 22, 2011, at Trinity’s Reception Hall in Slidell. This event established the Mystic Krewe of Titans as the city’s second nighttime parade, rolling one week before the female Krewe of Selene.
